It's Gramma's birthday. Did you throw her a big party? Did Nana and Papa help? I was thinking today that she's the first of her siblings to go home. And that sounds hard, too.
It's election day here, and for several years Gramma worked the polls. This country and it's freedoms were so important to her and Grampa. It seems fitting that it's on her birthday.
Your Matthew just got the part of Hans in Frozen back in Wisconsin. I'm kinda hoping to be able to go see him. Andrew and Michael got to be part of the family crew at a ceremony honoring Uncle James last week at the BYU game.
And you probably know that this weekend is the big rivalry game. BYU only won once while you were alive, in 2021, but they've won every year since then. Do you think they can do it again? But then, you were always a big Ute fan. I mean, they did have your favorite playground within sight of the stadium. And that's where they'll be again this year. I used to tell people that you could tell which equipment you chose and which I did. You always chose the red and I picked blue. Maybe I should have let you choose more often...Halloween was last weekend, and the Trunk or Treat the weekend before. I borrowed a bunch of your minion things and decorated the trunk with them. I don't think anyone but me knew it was for you, but that's okay. I knew.
It's dark early now. And getting cold. The leaves are falling and fallen; there was frost on the grass this morning. Thanksgiving is coming; the last time I saw Gramma, hugged her. Then her angel day, and yours, and Christmas. I think I might put the Christmas decorations up soon. I need the light; I miss your light. I miss hers.
Love you, kiddo. Hope you're doing well. Miss you so much.
Love,
Mama
